• 1st EXPERIENCE IN,

    MY INTERNSHIP.

The stories I heard from interviewing patients in the hospital wards taught me how predominant constructions of masculinity tied to physical violence in the household. Meanwhile, I also assisted with GVRC’s positive masculinity campaign with Kenya’s National Seven’s Rugby Team. These rugby players were the role models of many youth in Kenya and they talked in universities and used their influence to lower instances physical abuse in the household by positively altering societal perceptions of masculinity.”

  • WARM HEARTED STAFF,

    ALWAYS OPEN TO WORK.

“I volunteered at GVRC for one year, in the Social Work Department. During my time at GVRC I worked with such lovely, warm hearted staff who were always open to working with me, mentoring me, and allowing me to hone my skills as a Social Worker. I had a chance to merge the theoretical aspects of social work into practical work. I especially enjoyed the ward rounds, where I interacted with survivors. I also worked with the staff to assist those survivors who needed shelter, legal aid, and adoption services among many others. I visited all the GVRC branches and loved interacting with staff and partners of GVRC. This was indeed a life changing experience I wouldn’t trade for any other!”
